We are holding a series of monthly meetings (online via Zoom) in order to connect, share ideas, stories and hopes, and to build our "community of interest". We are also exploring what a "community of interest" is, and what we want it to be. The second event was on Thursday 5th November, 10-1130am, part of the Cornwall Festival of Business. The final meeting of the year is on Thursday 3rd December, 10-1130am.
We've learned from experience that these events work best with a friendly, informal but facilitated structure. We're basing our early discussions on two simple questions: Who's who, and what's working. In the future we will have speakers too and specific topics, but for the time being the meetings will be group conversations. Each attendee will have a few minutes to introduce themselves, and the conversation will flow from there. We will also discuss what sort of a community we want to be, and let things evolve.
Communities are diverse and inclusive, and anyone with an interest in wellbeing will enjoy these meetings. You might be an innovator, a practitioner and / or a consumer. You might have experience and knowledge of the private, charity, community and voluntary, or public sectors. Or all of the above. You will have ambitions to explore ways of doing collective wellbeing better.
The old model of health is creaking. Command and control doesn't work for wellbeing. We need new solutions, and these can only emerge. They can't be planned, or mandated. We need to create them, and we do this by sharing stories and talking about them. This is what communities do. It's unpredictable, but it works. And it's exciting.
We recently made the decision to postpone our flagship 2020 event, the CornWELL Festival of Wellbeing. Thank you to everyone who has been involved so far, and we're sorry it can't take place quite as planned. Instead we're holding a series of online events to achieve the same objective - sharing knowledge, inspiration and ideas from the world of wellbeing.
Kindness Week 2020 ran from 18-22nd May. We ran an "Appreciative Inquiry" into kindness, with 5 stages. It was awesome! See the videos
Our flagship event of 2019 was a multi-sensory, multi-disciplinary event bringing together people from all aspects of the wellbeing business and providing opportunities for great connections and unique conversations, with a combination of workshops, exhibitors, demonstrations, live music and networking events.
